I've installed the Sound Pack for the R44 and the install guide says I needed to move the Auto-Update folder to the root of X-Plane to prevent auto updating and overwriting of the sound files. However what wasn't explained is how update will and should be applied. I get the impression now I won't get updates to the R44 so how do I know when a new one is out, and how do you deal with that when having the sound pack?

The sound pack that you have installed is not part of the VSKYLABS project. It is a 3rd party addon. Indeed, in order to use it, you need to disable the autoupdater that includes in the project. Once disabled, for updates and update news you can follow the forums, news posts and the VSKYLABS facebook page. It is highly recommended NOT to remove the autoupdater folder from the VSL aircraft folder. Instead you can disable and enable the autoupdater on the fly, by using the on-screen pop up window / plugins menu.
