I have tried to use the popup Garmin 430 and have not been able to get the aircraft to follow the Flight Plan. Can you tell me the proper procedure for this aircraft in using the Garmin 430?

I have tried to use the popup Garmin 430 and have not been able to get the aircraft to follow the Flight Plan. Can you tell me the proper procedure for this aircraft in using the Garmin 430? Hi The Sperry Autopilot is not biased to the Garmin, so during flight, relaying on the cockpit radios and instrumentation, it is not possible to align a "NAV" or even "Heading" modes. It is the simplest old school gyro based autopilot for pitch and roll attitude. In the future, this feature will be added, in one way or another, because I do want it to be available. Thanks for joining in

JetManHuss sir, I have downloaded and flown the new version 2.5 and love it! Do you have any documentation on how to use the GNS530s as Auto Pilot in the plane? Any help would be gratefully accepted. Thank you again for an Great Plane.

Hi Bugeater64,
Maybe you already know this, but under Settings, you can map a button/key to Autopilot altitude hold and another button/key to Auto pilot heading-hold. The altitude hold works great, the heading hold can sometime rock back and forth for awhile until it settles down though. It's not a Nav/GPS hold but it's still a somewhat effective option, I think.

Hi bugeater64 Autopilot remained intact for v2.5. As whistler wrote (thanks!), this is the only way to "force" the aircraft into a button/key command. The autopilot is indeed "rocking back and forth" for a while, mainly because it is implemented in a very simple manner into the flight model (in purpose - for authenticity). I'll post further updates as this issue will continue to evolve in the project (in a way that I still need to decide...). JetManHuss

Made an test flight of the DC-3 from John Wayne Int'l (KSNA) to Henderson Executive Airport (KHND) using the setup you recommended for the GARMIN 530 and Autopilot. It takes some getting use to but oh my. It is such an improvement. Grant you it will not follow an flight plan but it will hold heading and altitude. Thanks so much once again for your super work. I love this airplane and will be using it in my streams and vids for Twitch and Youtube. I certainly do hope one day, there will be an fully working autopilot system. For now though, this improvement is wonderful. Thank you again.

Now that we have this beautiful aircraft in version 2.8.01, are there any plans to eventually make the Garmin 530's NAV/GPS following Autopilot system. Maybe even make the Aircraft GTN750 compatible? You have done amazing things with old school lady and I love flying her but some upgrades availability in especially the autopilot would be great and deeply appreciated. Thank you again for all the awesome work you have done in the development of this very fine airplane.
