I have been using the 2D panel for my other LongEZ; (It does not have a 3D panel). In the VSKYLABS LongEZ, I cannot look down enough to see either trim handles or the speed brake handle in the 2D panel setting. This threw me for a while. I searched the the POH and found the controls do exist, but could not look down far enough to see them.
I discovered the 3D panel allows seeing them. Perhaps the POH sections should say:
"TRIM SYSTEMS (Only visible in 3D panel)"
"LANDING AIRBRAKE (Only visible in 3D panel)"
BTW, It would be convenient if the Aileron-Trim knob had two white lines or dots for "Take-Off" and "Center" to point the arrow at.

Hi The VSKYLABS Rutan LongEZ is not featuring a 2D panel. You should use 3D panel and point up/down and sideways with the mouse. You will be able to use mouse manipulators as well. Another suggestion is to change the FOV settings to a higher value. It will "bring in" to your sight more of the cockpit. Recommended is 75-95, but you can set it as you find best (through the rendering settings in X-Plane - it is the horizontal bar). For the trim, it is highly recommended to use joystick button assignments, and like in real-life...you should move the head down to see the lever position. You can use X-Plane output data feature to show the values on-screen though... Trim markings: the pitch trim has the green marking (set for takeoff). The aileron trim should use a center marking...I will add this to the do list for the next update!

For looking down the cockpit, there is another option:
Using the Quick Look Feature.
Quick Look allows you to set up a view just the way you like it, and then save it as a hot key or command. Then, whenever you press that key on the keyboard (or button on your joystick, as the case may be), you can go right back to that view again.
The Quick Looks are aircraft-specific preferences. Each aircraft should be defined in separate.
So, if you want to look right and at an angle inside the cockpit...by tilting, moving and zooming in on a specific place in the cockpit. You can set up a Quick Look.
How to do it? begin with setting up the view to however you like it (using the mouse, arrow keys etc), and assign it to a Quick Look by pressing Ctrl+Num Pad of your selection (0-9).
You can assign quick look to a joystick button as well.

Reply 1) Yes, I am running at FOV set to 75 Reply 2a) I'll have to look into this - my keyboard does not have a num pad, and I don't think it has a "num key" mode Reply 2b) I've been trying to figure out how to map keys on my GladiatorII. Haven't figured that out yet. I tried running the Windows Joystick Configurator in Fusion. I thought I managed to program cntrl-v to the trigger to use for teamsquawk to IVAO, but it didn't work when I am flying (x-plane on Mac OS X). This one has been on my to-do list for a while.

Replies: (a) Right - just didn't see that mentioned in the POH, thus the suggested POH text markup (b) Yes, I have both trims mapped to my "little finger + hat". I'll assign a quick-look-down to check it. (c) That one I managed to guess. (d) Cool.
