Knowing FSX and P3D it's pretty simple to add graphic files to alter a livery but I'm new to X-Plane and having trouble figuring out the correct file structure so they appear properly. Can some one point me to a discussion or YouTube that describes what files should go where . . I've managed this so far on my own but getting some strange behaviour and crashes if I load and reload the same paint scheme.

Hi there! Nice work! Adding your livery paints is straight forward. In general, you need to create a dedicated livery folder and place it inside the existing 'Liveries' folder. You can copy an existing livery folder and rename it. Then, inside the 'objects' folder (which is inside your livery folder), you will find 3 files: FUSELAGE-TXT.png - this should be your textures file. FUSELAGE-TXT_bump.png - this should be your normal-map file (for PBR). FUSELAGE-TXT_LIT.png - this should be your LIT (night textures) file. Default creation for this is simply the textures file, and on-top of it create a black layer with 95% opacity...it should be enough for start, but you can play with it and add your night related textures. Now this is important: When you ADD a NEW livery, X-Plane will not recognize it unless you restart X-Plane. Then, after the restart, you can start and modify it while reloading the aircraft to test it in the sim. Hope that this is useful for you!
