I am attempting to configure my Three axis Joystick/One axis Throttle (KBsim Gladiator MK II) for flying the Cabri G2. The POH shows a setup for 6 axises including a Mixture axis and Rotor axis: I have tried setting my Throttle axis to "Wing Sweep" with the switch on the Collective to the left and to the right (default), but cannot lift off the ground. As I very slowly advance my "Throttle=WingSweep" lever, the rotor increases in speed, the blue arrow on power advances, but then the blue arrow drops back near 0 power, with the rotor indication in green arc. I tried setting my Throttle axis to "Collective" and can control the blue arrow, but the rotor does not spin up, so also cannot lift off. I have a lot of buttons that I can use for "xxx up a bit" and "down a bit", and I tried assigning a button to "Toggle governor" but it doesn't throw the switch on the Collective, so I have to manually throw the switch with the mouse. Need help configuring single Throttle axis to manage engine and rotor.

That would be your helicopter 'throttle' control. Assign one axis to 'collective'. That would be your collective control. Now...when flying...increase 'throttle' (assigned as wing sweep), you will see increase of rpm and at some point, the governor will take over and rpm will set at 100%. (engine and rotor). Then...you *fly* with the collective axis. Increase gently while doing the leg-work to counter torque (twist stick or pedals assigned to the yaw axis). During flight, you don't touch the throttle at all. Only if you wish to practice autorotations. Normally, you set the throttle back down to idle before shutoff. Throttle increase is done also in engine tests before takeoff. But not during flight. It should be 'stuck' at 100%. Let know if additional assistance is needed!

This will control fwd/hover/backward travel? When I pitch the stick fwd (from centered) I lift off but start moving backward. I cannot pitch fwd and move fwd. - Joystick Roll - assign to roll - Joystick yaw - assign to yaw - use full "pedal" at lift-off? - "Joystick Throttle" - assign to wing sweep

This is mandatory. I thought that your Gladiator has 3 sliders (additional 3 axis)... Anyways...do this: Throttle slider - set to collective. Now assign two buttons for sweep/vector fwd and aft (this activates the wing sweep axis. Search for it in the buttons assignment screen). With these two buttons, once powered...manage the throttle. Set to maximum until the governor takes over and fly with the collective only. Let know how it went!

I'm good now: Lift-off: - Press sweep vector aft button till the governor takes over - green arc - Advance collective (joystick throttle) slowly till up I've managed to get up and back down without a crash twice now, not graceful but it shows promise. Thanks

Let know how it went! Ok - think I am understanding better now. On the Cabri G2 collective, there is a twist throttle which you tied: - "throttle increase (counter-clockwise)" to "Vector or sweep aft" - "throttle decrease (clockwise)" to "Vector or sweep forward" When you say "Set to maximum until the governor takes over", translates to: - Press "throttle (counter-clockwise)"/"Vector or sweep aft" button till see rotor "tr/min" climb into the green arc (four or five clicks then rotor RRPM climbs to "3PM" position) BIG HIGH RIGHT NOW! - I completed a hover, transition, climb, cruise left pattern, descent, AND SAFE LANDING (on the runway) with my "wants to fight me all the way joystick" This is the same "high" I felt four years ago when I successfully flew my new vSkyLabs LongEZ on that same pattern out of KLNA (Lantana, Florida, USA). All my life I have been afraid of helicopters. Flew as a passenger once for search and rescue after a Colorado blizzard, but even that did not make me want to fly a Heli. "Owning my own Cabri-G2" is exciting and is going to give me a lot of pleasure. Thanks. My third flight - Ostafyevo Airport Russia: youtu.be/QsTkcJP0ewM
