* This was initially announced by VSKYLABS back in January 2023.
VSKYLABS upcoming 'Test-Pilot' project for X-Plane 12.
Experience the excitement and challenge involved in successful interception of 70,000 feet / Mach 3.0 with a highly defined testbed, designed specifically to showcase X-Plane 12 flight dynamics capabilities to its extremes.
Comprehensive propulsion and aircraft systems, full VR experience (optimized for 2-d as well), comprehensive FMOD sound pack and more.
It is undoubtedly one of the most 'heavy' development journeys this year here at the 'labs.
Stay tuned for more details!

Development notice:
The living core of the VSKYLABS 'Test-Pilot': SR-71-TB is a genuine, wide-scale and highly defined SR-71 simulation, developed by VSKYLABS. It includes professional aerodynamics design, customized systems, customized SR-71 propulsion system, fuel system, electrical, warning, hydraulics and pneumatic systems and other peripheral SR-71 related systems.
The VSKYLABS 'Test-Pilot': SR-71-TB uses the older Laminar Research SR-71 3-d model as a starting point for 3-d visualization, with their direct permission, for developing the VSKYLABS Study-Level SR-71 product for X-Plane 12.
The old 3-d model was re-engineered completely and heavily modified to fit into the comprehensive VSKYLABS SR-71 simulation and to fall in line with the latest VSKYLABS and X-Plane 12 standards.
It is one of the most comprehensive and intense VSKYLABS development efforts up to date.

Hi all,
Final configuration is not locked yet (A12/YF-12/SR-71....). The aircraft is a highly defined testbed that fuses together the design characteristics of the Mach-3 SR-71 *concept* and X-Plane 12 advanced flight dynamics model. For the sake of the 'argument'...it is not a 'Lockheed' bird, but a 'VSKYLABS' one, with aim to cover all relevant design aspects (airframe, systems, propulsion, cockpit, aerodynamics...).
Air-refuel feature - It takes a fundamental part in the mission (heavy takeoff, then, heavy initiation of the climb profile). Since there are quite a few issues with X-Plane 12 capability of doing air-refuel (at the present) and until this will be solved, there is the following solution: When flying the advised profile, there is a narrow and precise 'gate' that consists of airspeed, altitude and weight, that triggers a 'simulated' air-refuel session.
More information will be released soon!
