Hello, I'm Frank (oldpilot76),
I'd just like to say hello and to wish everybody well at VSKYLABS and on these forums.
I really am 76 but not really an "old pilot", other than an armchair flight simmer who is moderately experienced in MS Flight Simulator since 1998 and in X-Plane since X-Plane 9. I now only fly in XP 11.
As a young man of 18 I flew with my fiance from the old Abbotsinch (Glasgow) Airport, to Belfast in Northern Ireland. Our plane was a beautifully presented DC-3 in British European Airways livery, bare metal engines and undersides glittering in the sun. So, now I had two loves! Other than those two brief hops, back and forward between Glasgow and Belfast in 1959, I have never had the chance to fly on a DC-3 again. I had neither the nerve nor the co-ordination I needed to be a real-life pilot and I accepted that a long time ago. However, I have always been fascinated with aviation and these days, I spend a lot of time on my computer, flying as best I can, a variety of add-on aircraft ranging from the Cessna 172, A330, MD-80, Beech 1900D, DHC-6 and the Boeing 767, none of which I can say I can handle with more than a moderate degree of proficiency. But it's a great hobby, as long as I remember that my wife and I have three dogs and a cat and my job is regularly walking the dogs.
The frustration I have found in trying to track down a plane which I really love to fly in X-Plane 11, has been too much to endure until I found the VSKYLABS DC-3. The big jets are interesting up to a point but sitting watching the plane on autopilot from 250ft AGL to the landing flare at the destination airport, doesn't thrill me at all. On the other hand, flying the DC-3, (constantly improving by VSKYLABS), from VOR/NDB to VOR/NDB is a real challenge and is a very satisfying feature of flight simulation, for me at least.
I look forward to getting to know all the members here on the forums, keeping up to date with the latest posts and learning how all of you do your flight simulation with the VSKYLABS aircraft.
Meantime, warm wishes to all my fellow members,
May your god love and protect you,
oldpilot76 (Frank)
